Flower Form:   Raceme to 1' long. All flowers of a raceme open together. May not flower for 5-10 years. Flowers before leaves appear each spring.

Flowering Date:   Late spring/early summer
 
Planting Requirements:   Requires some shelter to protect its flower buds from frost damage. Requires sturdy supports or trellising.
 
Soil Requirements:   Deep, moist, well drained.
 
Growth Rate:   Fast; All vines will bloom, but it may take 5-10 years to produce their first flowers.
 
Unique Characteristics:   The grand show of bloom clusters.
 
Pruning:   Train scaffold to keep separate. Head back laterals that arise from scaffolds to about 6" in mid-summer. Shorten to 2 buds in midwinter.
