Flowering Date:   Midsummer onward

Planting Requirements:   Plant tubers with sprouts 1 - 2" below the soil surface. Full sun for best flowering.

Soil Requirements:   Sandy well drained soil. Will tolerate a wide range of soils except heavy clay.

Growth Rate:   Moderate to fast.

Unique Characteristics:   Dahlias are so easy to grow and will reward you with outstanding blooms the size of dinner plates. These giant dahlias are the ones that new dahlia cutlivars are judged by. Giant colorful blooms make quite a statement in patio pots or in a perennial border for the summer months. Add to cutflower arrangements for long lasting beauty indoors.

Pruning:   Remove spent flower heads to encourage more blooms and create a more bushy plant.

Additional Information:   Snip off side buds to get the largest central blooms. Provide a low nitrogen fertilizer. Avoid compost and high nitrogen water soluble fertilizers, they weaken stems and stunt bloom development.
