Foliage Type:   Elliptic leaflets that are arranged in a ladder like manner along the leaf stem, hence the common name, Jacob's Ladder.
 
Flower Form:   1"- 1 1/2" open cup shaped flowers with distinctive golden stamens, carried in terminal cymes.
 
Flower Color:   Deep, rich sky blue.
 
Flowering Date:   Late spring to early summer.
 
Planting Requirements:   Set at the same level it is growing at in the container, firm well and water thoroughly
 
Soil Requirements:   Well drained, responds best in a humus enriched soil
 
Growth Rate:   Moderate once established, which takes approximately 3 -4 weeks
 
Unique Characteristics:   This unique variety doe not produce the typical long flower stems, but form bold compact clumps. It covers itself with the intense blue flowers in spring creating a mound of color. Well suited to a position in a border where the pretty displays are a delight. Best in shade in areas that experience hot, dry summers. Should be watered throughout the summer if it does not receive ample rain.
